A House of Jackets Since 2008.

Sixteen years, one discipline, one studio in Texas — built by hand for the schools, teams, and brands that refuse to settle for a sublimated shortcut.

— The Craft Manifesto

Wool. Leather. Chenille. Hand-set snaps. Nothing sublimated.

Every Alpha jacket begins the way the trade has always demanded — with a body cut from genuine wool melton, sleeves from real cowhide, and patches built up in chenille thread one letter at a time. We do not print a pattern onto polyester and call it a letterman. The snaps are hand-cranked. The cuffs are rib-knit, not heat-pressed. The lining is cut, set, and tacked by a person who has done it a thousand times before.

It is slower. It is more expensive. And it is the only way we know how to make a jacket that is still being worn thirty years from now.

"We were never trying to be the cheapest house on the block. We were trying to be the last house you ever order from."

— Raúl Mendoza, Founder & Master Cutter

The Founders' Story · Chapter I, II, III

From a San Antonio Workroom to a Global Custom House.

I.

2008 — The Workroom Above the Bakery

Raúl Mendoza had spent fifteen years cutting varsity jackets for a third-generation Dallas wholesaler when the family decided to retire. Rather than chase another line, he took out a small loan, rented a 1,400 sqft workroom above a panadería on Houston Street, and began building jackets the only way he knew how — one at a time, in wool, with his name on every spec sheet. The first client was a high school football program in Laredo. The order was for forty-two jackets. They are still a client.

II.

2014 — The Decision to Specialize

By year six, we were turning away work. The temptation to expand into polos, hoodies, and totes was real and constant. We chose the opposite path: Alpha Jackets would only make jackets — varsity, letterman, and bomber — and would make them better than anyone in North America. We added fourteen in-house designers, opened the Houston Street studio, and refused every order that did not fit the discipline.

III.

2024 — Manufacturer of the Year

Seventeen years in, we now ship 31,000 jackets a year for NCAA programs, the NFL Alumni Association, and limited capsule collaborations with GQ and Hypebeast. In 2024, Apparel Magazine named us Manufacturer of the Year. We still answer the phone in the same workroom. We still sign every spec sheet by hand.
